On 7 November 2025, Ash Presser presented at the Surf Park Summit in the United States, unveiling pioneering research titled “Understanding Surf Park Incident Causation and Predictability: Applying Safety Science Theory to Incident Forecasting and Mitigation.” The presentation bridged the gap between traditional operations and emerging safety science, introducing models that combine predictive risk, severity-adjusted incident rates, and lifecycle-based safety maturity. Ash’s research challenges current norms and calls for greater transparency, systems thinking, and the integration of data-led safety governance throughout the surf park project lifecycle.
